Today we would like to introduce you to Lisa. She is currently completing her mandatory internship in the Toys Purchasing department at the BAUR Group. In this interview, she tells us more about her exciting tasks and her experiences during her internship.
I'm Lisa, 21 years old and I'm in my sixth semester of international business studies at the University of Bamberg. Since March of this year, I have been doing my mandatory internship in the area of purchasing toys, music, baby and toddler hardware, luggage and school here in the BAUR Group. In my free time, I like to play the clarinet and do creative things like sewing. Now that it's possible again, I also enjoy meeting up with friends.
I wanted to do my internship near Bamberg so that I could stay here a little longer. I came across the job advertisement for the internship in the Purchasing department online, which immediately appealed to me. The open and honest atmosphere in the interview completely won me over, as I immediately felt part of the team.
So my typical working day starts in the morning by processing and answering customer inquiries. My other tasks also include writing texts for new articles in the Primary program and maintaining delivery dates. I also help with the creation of articles and anything else that comes up.
What I like best is that it is so varied and that there is always something to do. And what I also find very exciting is that I'm always allowed to attend appointments with different suppliers (or just take part virtually at the moment), because you get a really good insight that way
Admittedly, I was a little skeptical at first when I was told after one day that I would be working in the Anyhwere Office from tomorrow. I just couldn't imagine how the training would work when you're sitting alone in front of your screen. But it all worked out really well and wasn't a problem at all in the end. I haven't been back to the office since my first day 😀
There are always lots of Post-It notes and colorful pens and highlighters at my desk. In general, however, it's always quite neat and organized, I'd say 😊
I would recommend the internship to anyone who likes to work independently on things as well as in a team. And I think it's also an advantage if you're enthusiastic about the toy, baby and luggage ranges.
That's right. Unfortunately, I won't be able to complete my six-month internship here because I had the opportunity to go to Spain to study at short notice. These two semesters abroad are an integral part of my studies. I would actually have gone to Canada last August. But then Corona came along and my stay in Canada was postponed by a year. This year, however, the host university canceled me again. So I no longer expected to be able to go abroad at all and am now all the happier to still have the opportunity. I'm looking forward to my time in Pamplona and all the new experiences and impressions there.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my colleagues and especially my department for welcoming and involving me so well right from the start. I have definitely learned a lot. And who knows, maybe I'll see you again after my semester abroad 😉
